The Tongue

The tongue creates worlds and empires but in the same measure can bring everything to its knees.

We’ve all been told how our words can have a huge impact on our lives. What you speak you create. Words become things. Speak and it shall be. It is strange how our tongues can be so powerful and we fail to realize it. Most of the time when you look at the events that happen in our lives from even the smallest they are a result of something we said with our mouths.

Your words become your reality,- Joel Osteen

The Bible warns us against this organ but we mostly ignore its power. We end up forming our worlds in a way we didn’t admire only cause we speak not conscious of the power behind it. I did an article on the mind a while back and now I’m on the tongue, and every minute I think of it there seems to be something unique with each part of our bodies.

I came across a tale of a king who had a dream that he lost all his teeth. He then ordered for dream experts to be brought to interpret it. The first one came and told him, “My Lord your dream is a sad one, it means you are going to lose all your relatives and they will die one by one before you”. This made the king angry and he commanded that the man be killed. A second expert was brought to interpret the dream and he said, “My Lord this dream indicates that you are going to live a longer and more fulfilled life than any of your relatives”. This made him happy and he awarded the man.

The two men were saying the same thing but in opposite ways. The one who used a positive approach got a reward while the other one lost his life. This is the same in our lives. Things happen that are not the best but how we look at and talk of them is what brings the difference. The same tongue made the king sad and happy when told the same thing just phrased differently.

Our words make us. They determine the status of our lives to some extent. We attract positivity or the contrary with our tongues. I sometimes envy quiet people due to the fact that they seem to know something that the rest of us don’t, which is, just shut up and reduce the chance of you saying something that may ruin your life.
